MIT Sloan is one of the leading research institutions in
technology management. What better place for Sloanies to
meet leaders of high-tech companies than Silicon Valley?
Each year, approximately 100 Sloan students spend a week
in the Bay Area visiting a total of over 40 companies in
technology, biotech, and tech-financing. Come and see
firsthand the presence MIT alumni have in the Valley.
Excerpt from last year's press release:
Over 30 firms are hosting students at their offices or campuses
in businesses ranging from biotech and software to venture
capital and storage, even foraying into winemaking! Students
will be meeting leaders at both established firms such as
Intel and Siebel, as well as visiting newly funded startups,
like Plaxo, decrying the myth that no firms are achieving
funding these days.
Evenings are equally full for the students who will have the
opportunity to rub elbows with local alums, business leaders
and students at the annual Menlo Circus club social and
networking event, which draws an attendance of over 300
technophiles. A new event that enlivens Sloan’s mission to
generate principled leaders, spearheaded by some of the Trek's
student leaders, seeks to return some of the hospitality the
valley has shown the student group by participating in community
service.
